Manufacturer and Business Owners Receive Award from SBA

In 2001, Dennis Christopherson left his job in the packaging industry to become a business owner. Dennis had been selling plastic products but customers kept requesting customized PET preform products and there was no one manufacturing them. The company runs 23 production lines with 110 different molds and customizes the molds daily to accommodate different customers. PET preforms are small, test-tube-shaped plastic pieces made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) that serve as the intermediate form for manufacturing bottles and containers. A PET preform is an injection-molded plastic product that acts as the starting point for producing PET bottles and containers. It is typically shaped like a thick tube with a finished neck and threads, which ensures compatibility with caps and closures. The body of the preform is later stretched and blown into the final bottle shape using a blow molding process, making it a highly engineered intermediate product designed for precision and consistency in bottle manufacturing.

In April 2026, the SBA South Dakota District Office highlighted Preform Solutions’ role in setting the “gold standard of SBA 504 borrowers” and its strong community impact.
