Event description
This presentation provides an introduction to the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), its role in the federal acquisition process, and how DCAA supports contractor cost oversight throughout the contract life cycle. It explains DCAA’s organizational mission and the types of financial advisory and audit services it performs—from proposal development and pre-award accounting-system reviews through contract performance, incurred-cost reviews, and contract closeout.
Attendees can expect to gain a practical understanding of what to anticipate when working with DCAA, including audit initiation and adequacy reviews, requests for information, site visits and fieldwork, interim discussions, exit conferences, and negotiation assistance. The session also highlights common audit areas and available contractor resources—such as adequacy checklists, submission tools, guidance, and frequently asked questions—to help small businesses prepare for government contracting requirements and engage early and effectively with DCAA.
