Report on the Most Serious Management and Performance Challenges by Office of Inspector General

The Office of Inspector General annually identifies top management challenges for the SBA.

About this document and download

Pursuant to the Reports Consolidation Act of 2000, the SBA Office of Inspector General has identified the top management and performance challenges facing SBA to meet its mission and deliver services to all entrepreneurs with integrity, efficiency, and measurable results. The Act requires the Inspector General’s statement of those challenges to be included in the agency’s annual performance and accountability reporting.

Identification of an issue as a top challenge does not necessarily denote significant deficiencies or lack of attention on SBA’s part. Many of the challenges are longstanding, inherently difficult, and will likely continue to be challenges in the coming years. Mitigating the risks associated with the challenges will require consistent attention from agency management and ongoing engagement with Congress, the public, and other stakeholders. We continue to collaborate with SBA program officials in identifying and addressing the top challenges facing the agency.
